Brandon Clarke’s cause of death revealed

Former Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke died from a lethal combination of heroin and cocaine, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

Officials determined that the 29-year-old died from “the effects of heroin and cocaine,” with his death ruled accidental.

Clarke was found “unresponsive in his bedroom” at a San Fernando Valley residence on May 11 at approximately 5 p.m. He was pronounced dead about 15 minutes later.

Drug paraphernalia was reportedly discovered near Clarke, leading investigators to consider a possible overdose early in the investigation.

Clarke entered the NBA in 2019 and spent all seven seasons of his career with Memphis, averaging 10.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.

“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Brandon Clarke,” the Grizzlies said following his death. “Brandon was an outstanding teammate and an even better person whose impact on the organization and the greater Memphis community will not be forgotten.

“We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Less than six weeks before his death, Clarke had been arrested in Arkansas after authorities allegedly discovered 235.6 grams of kratom in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Clarke reportedly told officers that he believed the “stuff is legal.”

His fiancée, Amber Lorraine, later remembered Clarke as “the most special person, with the biggest heart” in an emotional tribute.

“All I want is to hug you and kiss you,” she wrote. “This world isn’t the same without you.”
