The world of college football recruiting has changed drastically in recent years with Name, Image and Likeness payments further complicating what was already a considerably complicated process.
Five-star offensive lineman Jackson Cantwell’s offseason commitment story has been one of the most exciting in college football, with several top programs vying for his services during this offseason.
On Tuesday, Cantwell made his college decision official as he pledged to Mario Cristobal’s Miami Hurricanes, a move that came with a video explanation as shared by the Georgia Bulldogs X page Dawg Nation.
Cantwell shared his reasons for making the decision, which did not sit well with a litany of Bulldogs fans.
“Jackson Cantwell didn’t hold back,” DawgNation wrote. “He says it wasn’t about the money —and calls out @On3Sports (reporter) @PeteNakos for pushing a ‘false narrative.’
“Cantwell says relationships, not dollar signs, won out in his commitment to Miami,” the page added, sharing a video interview.

“Turns out it was about the money lol,” one fan said.
“We all know it’s about the money,” another fan added.
“Calling out On3 and Pete Nakos? Yeah that ranking fixing to drop,” another said.
“Uh huh. Sure,” another fan said with a winking face emoji.
Cantwell stands 6-foot-7 and a half inches and weighs 315 pounds. The prized Class of 2026 recruit was also offered by Michigan, Alabama, and the hometown Missouri Tigers, along with the Bulldogs and Hurricanes among other teams.
