Two college athletes are dead following “horrifying” shootings that took place this week.
A college football player and a college basketball player have died in different shootings this week. The tragic news broke out of the college sports world on Wednesday morning.
Jamarion Brown, a college basketball player at Henderson State University, was killed in a shooting at a pool party. He was reportedly shot in the head and later died.
“It is with deep sadness that Henderson State Athletics mourns the death of junior men’s basketball student-athlete Jamarion Brown,” the university said in an online statement. “‘Jo’ spent just one season in Arkadelphia, but his impact on our campus was profound.”
His coach, Jimmy Algas, is deeply saddened.
“No words can express our sadness for Jamarion’s family, friends, and teammates,” he said. “Jo’s impact was felt not only on the basketball court, but throughout the fabric of Henderson State University, and we all grieve together. His loss leaves a tremendous void on our campus, but Jo will be remembered and honored in our hearts forever.”
Tragically, he is not the only college athlete to have died in a shooting.

A college football player died in a shooting on Tuesday night. Alex Foster, an 18-year-old college football player at Baylor, is dead following a shooting.
His was shot and killed in his home state of Mississippi.
“We are heartbroken by the unexpected loss of Alex Foster, a beloved teammate, friend, and a cherished part of the Baylor family. Our thoughts and prayers are with Alex’s family and all those who loved him. In this time of deep sorrow, we draw strength from our faith and the unwavering love of the Baylor community. Our immediate focus is on supporting Alex’s family and his teammates through this devastating loss. Alex’s memory will forever be a part of Baylor University,” a statement read from athletic director Mack Rhoades and head coach Dave Aranda.
