The Ohio State Buckeyes are making a few tweaks to their football schedules in 2029 and 2030. One of those changes will feature a new season-opening opponent.
On Wednesday, Ohio State Football announced that their 2029 season-opening game will now come against the Navy Midshipmen. That game will be played at Ohio Stadium on September 1 and replaces a previously scheduled game against the Nevada Wolf Pack.
As for the Nevada game, 10tv.com reported that the game is being moved to September 7, 2030. However, the Buckeyes’ official account current lists a game against Charlotte on that date.
The listed 2029 non-conference schedule is as follows:
Navy, September 1Charlotte, September 8Youngstown State, September 15
The listed 2030 non-conference schedule is as follows:
Charlotte, September 7at Georgia, September 14
Fans had a wide range of opinions about the schedule, with many joking that Ohio State will probably face Alabama and Georgia at noon like they will against Texas:
“Can’t wait for that noon kick off vs Bama,” one user joked.
“Go ahead and lock in Georgia and Bama for noon kickoff,” wrote another.
“Just because the future is bright doesn’t mean you have to schedule ALA and UGA when the sun is at its brightest and highest point. Put them at night and tell the opponents to deal with it or forfeit. One of the softest moves I’ve ever heard is allowing TX to veto a game time,” a third wrote angrily.

The Buckeyes will host the Georgia Bulldogs on September 30, 2031. They have no scheduled non-conference opponents in 2032 through 2034 but have a home-and-away series with Boston College in 2035 (home) and 2036 (away).
The heavy hitters on their non-conference schedule is their home-and-away series against Texas in 2025 and 2026, then Alabama in 2027 and 2028 before the Georgia series in 2030-2031.
