Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Ile Notre Dame island is one of Formula 1’s most enduring and most loved circuits. After a two-season enforced absence due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Montreal track has returned with larger attendances – and lots of rainy weather – in the past few seasons. In 2025, the Canadian Grand Prix returns one week later than in 2024 and will be the tenth round of the season. Max Verstappen has won the last three editions of the Canadian race, but with an increasingly competitive order at the front of the grid, the Dutch driver will likely have more competition from McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes in 2025.

Heading to Montreal for the first time? All the essential travel information can be found here: Travel Basics – 2025 Canadian Grand Prix

The Canadian Grand Prix continues to be one of the best attended races of the season. It has been the sixth best-attended race weekend in each of the last two years.. You can expect a busy trackside experience at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve over the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix weekend. 350,000 fans were in attendance across the three days in 2024, a record for Canada, and a similar attendance level can be expected in 2025.

2025 Canadian Grand Prix Tickets Now On Sale

Tickets generally go on sale for Canada almost 12 months in advance of race weekend, and this year was no exception. Demand is always high for the most popular grandstands at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, including those on the final hairpin and the opening esses. We recommend securing your tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. F1 Experiences Ticket Packages are also on sale for 2025. Champions Club Rouge hospitality on the outside of the final corner is recommended for excellent, close-up track views and exciting trackside activities. Where to Stay For the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix

If you can afford it, staying in downtown Montreal offers easy access to the best dining, nightlife and entertainment that the city has to offer, plus easy access to the circuit via metro. Within the central parts of Montreal, recommended areas to stay include Old Montreal and the hipster enclave of Plateau Mont Royal. If you are on a more limited budget, don’t discount staying in Longueuil or Brossard on the eastern side of the St Lawrence River, where you can still get to the track easily via public transport or ride sharing. Magical Montreal

The metropolitan area of Montreal is inhabited by around 4.3 million people; a growth of over 1 million since the sport first visited the circuit on the Ile Notre Dame island in 1978. The city is the place to be over Grand Prix weekend, as it embraces the influx of F1 fans. There’s always a number of F1-themed events taking place across the city in the build up to the Grand Prix. From festivals and Grand Prix parties to events laid on by Formula 1 teams, there’s something for everyone off track in the city. Aside from the famous parties on Crescent Street and Peel Street, we’ve recommended the best places to dine and other nearby attractions to visit during your trip in this post: What to See & Do in Montreal – 2025 Canadian Grand Prix

How to Get to Circuit Gilles Villeneuve

Montreal is served by a number of public transport links, with the Metro being the easiest way of reaching the track, which is located within Parc Jean-Drapeau. Be aware that the Metro will get busy over the weekend, particularly at peak times. It’s easy to find your way to the track – just follow the crowds of F1 fans! Taxis and bicycle sharing are other convenient ways of getting around Montreal. How Much Does it Cost to Attend the Canadian Grand Prix?

Part of the draw to the Canadian Grand Prix is the cost of the tickets. Tickets rank as the ninth cheapest on average in the 2025 season. The Canadian Grand Prix remains good value for money, especially for Americans traveling to the race. We estimate that the average fan will spend around $1,780 CAD ($1,265 USD) on a trip to the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix, including the cost of a 3-day grandstand seat, a 3-night stay in a central Montreal hotel and daily spending money. For a full breakdown on what you can expect to spend, read this post: How Much Does it Cost to Attend the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix?

Trackside at the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix

Due to increased attendances at the Canadian Grand Prix, the organizers have had to implement a ticketing system for the traditional pit lane walk on Thursday morning, which kick starts the race weekend at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. A limited number of tickets are offered via a random draw via the circuit’s newsletter.

As well as Formula 1 action, Canada normally also features additional support categories such as the Ferrari Challenge and Porsche Carrera Cup North America, both of which stage two races across the weekend. You can find all the vital information about watching the race, including session times and prohibited items, in Trackside.
