Another day, another announcement from the Atlanta Braves of players being reassigned to the minor league camp. Today, utility-man Eddy Alvarez and right-hander Chad Kuhl are the players sent out from the big league side of camp.
With this move, Atlanta’s major league camp roster is down to 48 players.
Alvarez, who was added this offseason for some organizational depth, has spent parts of four seasons in the majors, including with the New York Mets last season. The two-time Olympic silver medalist has experience as an infielder and outfielder during his career. He only had one hit in 11 at bats this spring.
Kuhl, who has spent parts of eight seasons in the big leagues after debuting in 2016, has extensive experience as both a starter and reliever. He pitched in 31 games with the Chicago White Sox last season. This spring, he’d pitched in three games, allowing one run while striking out four and walking three.
Both Alvarez and Kuhl will likely head to Gwinnett as depth for the organization at Triple-A.
