The Premier League welcomes fresh talent this season, and with new signings come exciting opportunities for FPL 2025/26 managers hunting for value, writes FPL expert Blake Hurst. These newcomers often fly under the radar early on, making them perfect differential picks to boost your squad without breaking the bank. Whether it’s their potential to score, assist, or simply secure regular minutes, these players could surprise and help you climb the ranks in the opening gameweeks.

Here are five newboys to keep an eye on as you build your team.

Benjamin Sesko (Manchester United, 7.5m)

Sesko is United’s exciting new signing up front, and he looks set for a breakout FPL year. The 22-year-old arrives with a big reputation and strong numbers from RB Leipzig – 21 goals and five assists last season – and has nailed down his spot as the starting striker. United’s revamped attack, and playing in front of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, could provide plenty of service, and with his pace, movement, and finishing, double digit goals this season are well within reach if this team gets going. Priced at 7.5m, Sesko offers serious upside as a mid-range forward, and consistency in Ruben Amorim’s system should mean plenty of chances and reliable starts once he gets going.

Viktor Gyokeres (Arsenal, 9m)

Gyokeres could be a blockbuster FPL signing this year. Now leading the Arsenal attack, he arrives fresh from smashing 45 goals and adding eight assists last season with Sporting CP. Priced at 9.0m, he’s not just a penalty box poacher – he’s a physical presence and strong finisher with an eye for goal. With Arsenal’s midfield supplying chances and Gyokeres looking nailed on to start, he offers explosive upside if you want a talisman forward for your squad with Arsenal hoping he is the missing piece of the puzzle.

Florian Wirtz (Liverpool, 8.5m)

Wirtz is Liverpool’s headline signing and looks an FPL steal at 8.5m. He’ll start as the main playmaker behind Mohamed Salah and Hugo Ekitike, and in pre-season he’s already delivered a goal plus three assists – showing he can adapt fast. Wirtz racked up 21 goals and 23 assists over two years at Bayer Leverkusen, so expect consistent returns and bonus points. If you want a piece of this amazing Liverpool attack without breaking the bank, Wirtz provides upside and reliability at a great price. He’s in over 34% of teams for a reason.

Jeremie Frimpong (Liverpool, 6m)

Jeremie Frimpong is a strong FPL pick this season, priced at 6m as Liverpool’s new right-back. He offers serious attacking threat, having scored 14 goals and provided 12 assists last season at Leverkusen. Frimpong’s direct running and ability to burst forward could create plenty of chances, while Liverpool’s solid defense sets him up for clean sheet points. However, there is a slight risk of rotation with team-mate Conor Bradley, who is defensively stronger and highly rated by Liverpool manager Arne Slot. Bradley’s presence means Frimpong may not start every game early on, so keep an eye on their rotation dynamics. Overall, Frimpong is a high-upside, exciting option who can bring attacking returns if he nails down the starting right-back role.

Hugo Ekitike (Liverpool, 8.5m)

Hugo Ekitike is an exciting forward pick for FPL this season, priced at 8.5m. Last season, he scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists for Eintracht Frankfurt, earning a place in the Bundesliga Team of the Season. At Liverpool, he’s expected to play a vital role under Slot, showing versatility by playing centrally or drifting wide. Ekitike started strong, scoring early and assisting in pre-season games. However, he faces competition from Cody Gakpo and the potential arrival of Alexander Isak, so his game time may fluctuate. Still, with his high involvement in goals and tactical flexibility, he offers solid upside for your squad.
