PSG got their hands on the UEFA Super Cup following a dramatic comeback victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Les Parisiens came back from two goals down in the last five minutes before the 90 minutes to draw level and win on penalties.

PSG Lift UEFA Super Cup After Comeback Win vs Tottenham

After losing out to Chelsea in the Club World Cup final, the Ligue 1 outfit were determined not to let the same fate hit them. However, for a while, it looked like PSG were about to suffer another disappointing loss to a London-based team.

Despite dominating ball possession since the start, Luis Enrique’s side were struggling to break down Spurs’ tight defense. Instead, it was Thomas Frank’s side that looked more dangerous on the counterattack.

Tottenham got themselves ahead after 39 minutes through Micky van de Ven’s close-range finish to close the first 45 minutes. The Lilywhites looked to be in full control when they went 2-0 up through Cristian Romero’s goal on 48 minutes.

Spurs were looking comfortable with their setup and tactic, but things changed with just five minutes from time. Lee Kang-In’s wonderful strike turned things around for PSG as the South Korean star found the net to make it 2-1 on 85 minute.

That goal sparked life into the Paris-based outfit as they eventually got that crucial equalizing goal on 94 minutes through Goncalo Ramos’ header. With no extra time, both teams have to settle the game via a penalty shootout.

Vitinha missed the opening spot kick for PSG, but it was their only failed one on the match. Meanwhile, Spurs had Van de Ven and Mathys Tell, both failed to convert their penalties, giving PSG a 4-3 win.
