The Brewers will take on the Athletics today, exactly three weeks before Opening Day.
On the hill for Milwaukee is 6’7” righty Jacob Misiorowski, one of the Brewers’ top prospects. He’ll be facing off against lefty Jeffery Springs, who pitched to a 3.27 ERA last year in seven starts with Tampa Bay.
Misiorowski, who has recorded a 12.00 ERA in two appearances (one start) this spring, has struggled with control issues at times as a pro. However, he didn’t walk a batter in his most recent appearance. He should be able to have a decent outing if he can continue to locate his pitches well.
Also scheduled to pitch this evening are RHP Trevor Megill, LHP Grant Wolfram, LHP Jared Koenig, RHP Craig Yoho and RHP Elvis Peguero.
As for today’s lineup, Caleb Durbin will be leading things off for the Crew. Durbin, hitting just .192 this spring, is coming off an 0-4 game against the White Sox. Sal Frelick, who led off yesterday, will hit second. William Contreras, the fifth place finisher in MVP voting last year, will round out the top of the order.
Jake Bauers, hitting fifth, is competing with Tyler Black and Mark Canha for the backup first base spot/potential fifth outfielder spot. He’s hitting .273 with a home run this spring, but hasn’t played since March 1st.
Cooper Pratt looks to continue his hot start to the spring. Pratt went 3 for 4 against the Guardians, but has had just four plate appearances in four games since. If he can put together another strong showing today, it’ll only increase the Brewers’ confidence in him as a potential future cornerstone.
The game will be broadcast via the Brewers Radio Network, and first pitch is set for 7:15pm CT. Lineups for each team are below:
