Details Emerge About Matthew Stafford’s Contract Demands

The future of veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford with the Los Angeles Rams is up in the air right now.

There are plenty of rumors that he is unhappy and wants to be traded, and in fact, the Rams reportedly gave his agent permission to talk to other teams about a potential trade.

Stafford, 37, remains an effective player, and he’s apparently angling for a new contract that would pay him more money than most other signal-callers across the NFL.

Per Peter Schrager, the dollar amount Stafford has in mind is over $50 million a year.

Stafford threw for 3,762 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2024, and while those are solid numbers, they don’t exactly look like the numbers of a QB who should be making top dollar.

At this point of his career, there is a good chance that his production will significantly decline moving forward, and thus, if he won’t accept a reasonable contract offer, perhaps it would be in the best interest of the Rams to let him go.

The Rams have replenished their roster by drafting well over the last couple of years, and as a result, they have won 10 games and made the playoffs in both of the last two seasons.

Lately, there have been rumors that Aaron Rodgers, the 41-year-old future Hall of Fame quarterback, is very open to joining the Rams if they move on from Stafford, and if Rodgers heads to L.A., he could be joined by Davante Adams, the veteran six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver who has spent most of his career alongside Rodgers.
