Bourne for August, indeed. The Bourne Braves won their fifth-ever Cape Cod League championship and third in four summers under manager Scott Landers, completing a dominant best-of-three series sweep of the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox with a 19-2 Tuesday win in South Yarmouth, Mass.
After falling one run short to the Harwich Mariners in a deciding third title game in 2024, Bourne finished its path to the winner’s circle in convincing fashion. But it was not easy.
The Braves were just 20-18-2 in the regular season, but took the West Division lead in the final days and clinched the No. 1 seed. Their first two series against the Hyannis Harbor Hawks and Cotuit Kettleers both went to three games.
