After captivating audiences in Madrid, Vienna, Toronto, London, Buenos Aires, and most recently Amsterdam, the German city of Oberhausen has been announced as the next European city to host the Formula 1 Exhibition.

Part of Germany’s Ruhr area, Oberhausen is one of several cultural hotspots in a region renowned for its industrial monuments, festivals, museums and theatres.

Combining rare visual, audio and photographic materials with iconic Formula 1 memorabilia and cutting-edge interactive technology, the show offers a unique, immersive journey through the history of Formula 1, with doors set to open to the public on 22 October 2025.

Featuring exclusive contributions from F1 drivers, teams and experts, along with never-seen-before artefacts, the Formula 1 Exhibition blends dynamic design, insider insights and exciting interactive experiences to create an unforgettable show.

Fans and motorsport enthusiasts can also look forward to a dedicated German room celebrating the country’s deep-rooted influence on F1.

This special area will spotlight iconic moments from the Nurburgring and Hockenheim, pay homage to powerhouse constructors such as Mercedes, celebrate German women in Formula 1 and honour German drivers who have changed the sport – including Kick Sauber racer Nico Hulkenberg and former World Champions Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg.

The 90-minute journey through the world of F1 begins with Once Upon A Time In Formula 1, a gallery of previously unpublished photos, films, artefacts and numerous interviews with the sport’s most famous personalities, taking visitors through some of the most popular and defining moments in F1 history.

The Design Lab gives a rare insight into the development of an F1 car and shows how the teams design and produce new components. This is followed by the Drivers and Duels room, which celebrates the most legendary drivers and memorable moments since Formula 1 started in 1950.

Revolution By Design is all about innovation and ingenuity, ground-breaking technical advances and the unique power of Formula 1 design. The next section, Survival, focuses on Romain Grosjean’s dramatic crash in Bahrain in 2020, featuring the remnants of his Haas car and a video installation with unpublished interviews.

The exhibition ends with a spectacular finale. Pit Wall is an immersive multimedia experience that brings the greatest and most captivating moments in F1 history to life once again.

Emily Prazer, Chief Commercial Officer at Formula 1, said: “We are excited to bring F1 Exhibition to Germany. Since our first show in Madrid, the Formula 1 Exhibition has been a great success in showcasing Formula 1’s history.

“Germany as a country is integral to the sport’s story with iconic tracks such as the Nurburgring and great champions including Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel, whose legacies we still feel today. We cannot wait for fans in Germany to delve deeper into F1 and learn more about the sport they love.”

Jonathan Linden, Co-CEO of Round Room Live and Producer of The Formula 1 Exhibition, commented: “We are delighted to announce Oberhausen as the next stop on the European tour of our exhibition. Germany has a long-standing tradition of racing and has a meaningful influence on the world of Formula 1, with outstanding driver personalities and legendary racetracks.”

Folkert Koopmans, CEO FKP Scorpio Entertainment, added: “It is great to be able to announce the next exhibition highlight at OBEX right after The Last Days of Pompeii. Formula 1 The Exhibition offers everything you could wish for: Top sporting memorabilia, fascinating technology, extraordinary contributors, dramatic events and plenty of exciting stories – all brought to life in a unique way in this exhibition.”
