“The grass isn’t always greener”: Jackson Arnold’s Dad reveals what he said to Jackson before leaving Oklahoma Sooners

Jackson Arnold was with the Oklahoma Sooners during his first two college football seasons before he transferred to the Auburn Tigers. Well, Auburn is the 22nd ranked team in the country and they will face Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma on Sept. 20 with kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

Arnold returning to Norman is going to be very interesting. He has Auburn off to a 3-0 start this season. John Mateer has Oklahoma off to a 3-0 start as well and they are the 11th ranked team in the country. This contest will be the start of SEC Conference play for both programs. There is a lot of potential playoff implications riding on this game.

Jackson Arnold’s Dad Had Warning for His Son Before Leaving the Oklahoma Sooners

George Stoia II of on3.com covers the Sooners. He interviewed Arnold’s dad about his son leaving Oklahoma for Auburn. There was a lot of interesting dialogue in this story. Arnold’s dad said to Jackson before he left the Sooners football program,

“Before you make the decision, the grass isn’t always greener.”

Well, it turned out to be better for some reason for both Oklahoma and him. Arnold in three games with Auburn so far this season has completed 69.6% of his passes for 501 yards and four touchdowns. He has also rushed for 192 yards on 35 carries and four touchdowns, along with averaging 5.5 yards per carry.

He is proving so far that leaving the Sooners was a good move for him. When Jackson transferred, he didn’t see much of a future with him in the Oklahoma football program. Having a fresh start somewhere else seems to be working out for him for now. Is there a chance that he could potentially have the last laugh on Saturday if the Tigers pull off the upset on the road?  It will be interesting to see what Jackson would say postgame if Auburn won this game over Oklahoma.
