New plea has been made to Sheffield Wednesday fans with protest plans announced for Middlesbrough game, calling for a boycott of the fixture.
A statement has emerged with fans told not to buy season tickets during any early-bird sales, potentially starting in October, due to years of decline and disconnection underowner Dejphon Chansiri.
There is a call for a full boycott of the home game against Middlesbrough on the 22nd of October, encouraging fans to watch at local pubs instead.
The aim is to cut off season ticket revenue, a major financial lifeline for Chansiri, to pressure him to sell the club.
Previous retail boycotts have shown the impact of collective action, and fans are urged to continue defunding to hasten change.
🟡⚫️ No early renewals. No funding our own decline.

STATEMENT:
Fellow Wednesdayites,
The crisis at Sheffield Wednesday under Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership is not a short-term slump; it is a long-term issue. It has been years of decline, division, and disconnection from the community that has given this club life.
In solidarity with fellow supporters who yesterday risked jobs and livelihoods to protest against Dejphon Chansiri, we today announce the next stage in our campaign to convince him to sell our club.
1. We ask our members and wider fanbase not to purchase season tickets during any early-bird phase of sales, which we believe is likely to come earlier than ever before, possibly even during October.
2. We’re asking everyone who can, including season ticket holders, to go a step further now and enact a full boycott of the home game against Middlesbrough, live on Sky on 22nd October.
The Middlesbrough game is a prime opportunity to communicate to Chansiri via national media that we will not continue to fund our own decline. Your empty seat will speak louder than a thousand words.
Instead, we ask supporters to watch the Middlesbrough game at your local pub in Sheffield, ensuring your hard-earned money stays in our community.
Meanwhile, our defunding campaign has been a success, but the single biggest financial lifeline available to the Chansiri regime remains season ticket revenue. That cash flowing into the club could keep Chansiri around for months.
It must be denied to him. Every pound spent in the ground helps to extend his campaign of destruction. Every penny saved to spend under a new owner brings our brighter future one small step closer.
The retail boycott has already shown the strength of our collective action. Its impact has been real, it has been felt, and it can be seen in every shuttered kiosk and closed fanzone.
Change will come when we all understand the power we hold together. Use it. Embrace it. And together we can build a better future for Sheffield Wednesday.
Man behind protest plans speaks out with Sheffield Wednesday fans invading the pitch
Twitter users gave their reaction as Sheffield Wednesday fans announce new protest plans for the Middlesbrough game…
@eckoowl: I honestly feel that every person wanting a season ticket will get another chance with a new owner and at a better price before the start of next season. HOLD OFF buying one for the sake of the club. It’s not like he can even improve the squad in Jan, it’s literally to pay debt.
@allymitchell10: It needs adding that anyone who does renew there season ticket could in fact lose all there money. A very risky purchase
@culoid: We’re in. 3 of us. Whilst ever this 🤡 is around we’ll not be renewing season tickets. I’ve had mine 40 years.
@IanScho11257350: Had a season ticket 40+ years won’t be renewing it will do my head in but just had enough of this crap
@Jinja_Owl: Explain to your kids why you aren’t going next season. They’ll thank you in years to come.
@C_Wak84: Me, my dad and 2 sons won’t be renewing, and we will also not attend the Boro Game 🙌. It’s our time together as a family, but enough is enough…. short term loss….. long term gain. #swfc #chansiriout
@fighthewrongs: Me n lad in. Not using season tickets this match, will watch at home. Definitely not renewing whilst he’s still here.
@markah77: Whilst I’m happy not to use my ST and will boycott the Boro game (haven’t bothered with the last two anyway), the official trust boycott should be for the Blades game.
@steve_noonan: Totally behind this as we need to up the action to ensure and that’s our lasses birthday so looks like a genuine show of affection by staying home and not going the game. Win win.
@JoshCarson1867: Absolutely spot on. Season ticket income provides Chansiri with an influx of millions. This is our biggest opportunity to cut off his final lifeline and get him out of our club for good.
@fife_owl: This is the crunch. If season ticket holders can at least hold out into the new year, it could just push him out before January comes. If he gets to January, he will asset strip to hold on.
@therealowlstom: I won’t be spending any money in the ground but I’ll still go to the Boro game and use my season ticket. I work away half the year and miss out on so much with my kids. That man has pretty much extinguished this avenue of joy, but it’s still one of the few family things for me.
@KellyBarrett01: @WTIDPOD bout time every single fan comes together as 1 . . . No renewal ST and no one at home for borough game – Show ‘em what we can do as fans and that’s come together as a collective, strong n proud – we want our Wednesday back #SWFC
@ACCardwell04: Me & my wife have gone to every weekend home game for years, could only get to the odd week day game due to work. We got food and drinks in the ground plus stuff from the megastore, we’ve made the decision not to go to anymore games until DC as gone I’ve followed SWFC since 1978
@SmithSwfc: Won’t be renewing mine and my sons whilst ever chancer is in charge. My lad is 9 but he is starting to understand, he see’s the protests and he gets involved. He isn’t bothered about going anymore and it breaks my heart. #chansiriout
@s12owl: Next season would be my 40th as a st holder but if that clown is still at the club then I won’t be renewing!… Wont be attending the Boro game either. So sad it’s come to this!
@bendybob4: Family usually renew season tickets at first early bird, NOT this time, NOT EVER whilst that charlatan is still owner. Hopefully he will be ousted before the end of November. All family have decided to boycott Middlesbrough game👍 #chansiriout #swfc
@Gothard_1986: Behind the non attendance for the Boro game. Had a season ticket for over 20 years but not one more whilst this pointless waste of oxygen is our custodian #swfc #enoughisenough
