LeBron James will miss at least three to four weeks with sciatica on his right side, which means he not play to start the regular season.
James is on an expiring contract with the Los Angeles Lakers and his future with the franchise is uncertain ahead of his 41st birthday in December.
James has played in 71 and 70 games during the past two seasons, but he had played in 45, 56 and 55 games during the previous three as he has not been quite as durable as he was previously in his career. James has a 21-year streak of making the All-Star Game.
The Lakers figure to elevate either Marcus Smart or Jake LaRavia into the starting lineup during James’ absence.
