Although it is named after Turn 8 (Stamford Corner), the Stamford grandstand doesn’t really offer views of its namesake corner due to the presence of mature trees on the immediate right side of the grandstand. It does, however, offer good views of Turn 7 (Memorial Corner), and the the best seats in this grandstand are in the lower numbered sections closer to this corner. The Stamford grandstand is one of the cheapest grandstands at Marina Bay Street Circuit. Whilst the views here are not great, we’d argue that they are better than the views from the more expensive Connaught and Padang grandstands, which are also in Zone 4. One advantage of the Stamford grandstand is relative proximity to the main Padange stage, where the headline acts perform on race weekend.
Access to Stamford Grandstand
The Stamford grandstand is located in War Memorial Park, close to several shopping malls (Raffles City, City Link, Marina Square, Suntec City). The closest entrance gates for the Stamford grandstand are 3A and 3B (Stamford), see the detailed map below. Two MRT stations are located very close to these entrances gates, Esplanade on the orange Circle Line and City Hall on the green East-West Line and red North-South Line. Both metro stations offer good connections to most corners of the city state. When utilizing Google Maps for navigation, we always recommend checking which exit gate at the metro is best for your actual destination.
Stamford Grandstand Seat Type & Layout
All of the seats in the Stamford grandstand offer individual bucket seats with backs.
As you can see from the seating plan above, the Stamford grandstand is separated into seven sections, A1 to A7. The lower numbered sections are closer to Turn 7 and have better views here than higher numbered sections. The views to the right of this grandstand (towards Turn 8) are blocked by mature trees (see here). This is one of the largest grandstands at Marina Bay Street Circuit, with sections A2-6 having 43 rows of seats. Row numbers begin at row one, lowest and closest to the track. For the best views, above the catch fencing but not too far from the track, rows 20-30 here are best in the Stamford grandstand.
A large TV screen is located opposite the A4-A5 sections of the Stamford grandstand. Whilst views of the screen are best from sections A4-A5, you can still follow the action on this screen from all other sections of the grandstand.
