Jude Bellingham was the star as Real Madrid came from behind twice to secure a 2-2 draw with Elche and reclaim the top spot in La Liga.
The England midfielder scored one and set up another, firing Kylian Mbappe’s cut-back into the net with three minutes left to rescue a point for Xabi Alonso’s side.
Elche stunned Madrid early in the second half when Aleix Febas poked a shot past Thibaut Courtois to give the home side the lead.
Former Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen then prodded home Bellingham’s knockdown to level the score, only for Alvaro Rodriguez to restore Elche’s advantage with a low strike from the edge of the box.
Bellingham ensured Madrid left with a share of the spoils, netting his third goal in four La Liga appearances to make it 2-2.
The midfielder’s influence was decisive, keeping Alonso’s side on course for the title race.
The match ended with a blow for Elche, who were reduced to 10 men in the seventh minute of added time when Victor Chust picked up a second yellow card for a foul on Mbappe.
The point lifted Real Madrid above Barcelona, who beat Athletic Club 4-0 on Saturday, while Elche remain 11th in the table.
