The last week of November is an important one when it comes to college basketball. The way teams perform can go a long way toward determining where they end up on Selection Sunday. Some teams understood the assignment, while others lost ground.
From redeeming wins to unfortunate weather, here are this weekend’s winners and losers.
The No. 24 Commodores are 8-0, and they cruised to a 96-71 victory over Saint Mary’s on Friday for the Battle 4 Atlantis Championship. Vanderbilt has been dominant so far, winning seven of its eight games by double digits.
Guard Duke Miles averages almost 19 points per game and is a big reason the Commodores may be true contenders in the SEC.
While Ohio State football is celebrating its huge victory over Michigan this weekend, the basketball team suffered a crushing defeat. The Buckeyes were 6-0 heading into a winnable matchup with 5-3 Pitt, which had just lost to mid-major opponent Quinnipiac.
Down by two with three seconds left, guard Damarco Minor nailed an off-balance 3-pointer to give the Panthers a 67-66 win.
