$375,000 initial donation will support future of the national team programs

In this season of giving, Field Hockey Canada is delighted to announce a major donation to support the future of international performances. This donation of $375,000 launches our new Power the Podium Trust Fund, a long-term philanthropic initiative designed to provide sustainable funding for Canada’s national field hockey teams.

The Little Owl Giving Fund, as the founding donor, has made a significant leadership contribution to seed the Power the Podium Trust Fund, reflecting belief in Field Hockey Canada’s long-term strategy and future international success. Field Hockey Canada is inviting friends, families, alumni, and supporters across the country to join in this moment by contributing to the fund and helping build the financial foundation necessary for sustained international success.

The campaign’s initial goal is to grow the Power the Podium Trust Fund (the “PPT Fund”) to $1,000,000 by the end of 2027, with our ambitions extending well beyond this to grow the fund into a stable, enduring source of support that powers our national teams for generations to come.

The cost of international performance has more than doubled over the past five years and Federal funding has not kept pace with rising costs and the intensified demands of the global game. Field Hockey Canada CEO Susan Ahrens noted this is precisely why the fund is so important:

“The creation of the PPT Fund reflects our commitment towards building a sustainable future for our national teams. In Power the Podium we have a capital foundation we will continue to grow, and which will allow us to plan boldly, invest strategically, and perform internationally. The PPT Fund will support annual international competition opportunities for both our Men’s and Women’s National Teams. Crucially, it extends beyond our senior teams to also support the women’s junior national pathway and impact on future success. We are profoundly grateful to the Little Owl Giving Fund for their incredible support.”

By establishing and building the PPT Fund, FHC will ensure that the dreams of our athletes and teams are supported by a resilient and sustainable foundation. The PPT Fund compliments the existing Men’s Trust Fund and Women’s Trust Funds. Together these long-term approaches will secure the sustainable future the sport needs, while the annual Adopt an Athlete and Adopt a Team fundraising campaigns will support the more immediate annual needs. Since their launch in 2021, FHC’s ‘Adopt A’ campaigns have raised more than $1,500,000 towards the annual endeavors of the national teams.

The Power the Podium Trust Fund is a transformational moment for Field Hockey Canada. In the spirit of giving, FHC invites supporters from across the country to help grow this fund and stand behind our national team athletes. “Together, we can fund the athlete dreams of tomorrow – every dollar counts – help Field Hockey Canada score a win on and off the pitch,” remarked Kerry T. Moynihan, Field Hockey Canada Chair of the Board of Directors.
