Teams are calling Marc-Andre Fleury to see what’s up
Pierre LeBrun: It’s not really a surprise that some teams have checked in with Marc-Andre Fleury to see if he would consider playing this season.
Greg Wyshynski: On the Marc-Andre Fleury speculation:
As @PierreVLeBrun said, teams have kicked the tires.
I’ve heard he’s open to the right opportunity for a comeback.
Obviously, @EdmontonOilers are the team to watch here, especially after the Jarry trade, an ex-teammate of MAF’s in PIT.
NHL Rumors: Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Calgary Flames
Would the Toronto Maple Leafs approach Morgan Rielly again?
NHL Rumour Report: David Pagnotta On OilersNation Everyday on Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly: “He has a full no-movement clause and they had a brief discussion about it at the end of last season, to see where his headspace was; if they go bold, I wouldn’t be shocked if that’s the direction go in.”
The Los Angeles Kings have the assets to add some offense
Eric Stephens of The Athletic: The Los Angeles Kings didn’t get better after trading center Phillip Danault for a draft pick. Maybe Alex Turcotte can take hold of the third line behind centers Anze Kopitar and Quinton Byfield.
Some are wanting coach Jim Hiller to be on the hot seat, but he’s not expected to go anywhere any time soon. GM Ken Holland: “I would expect him to be here the rest of the season.”
The Kings need some scoring help, and the second-round pick they got for trading Danault, only helps now if they flip it. What about Nashville Predators Ryan O’Reilly or St. Louis Blues Brayden Schenn? Don’t expect the Kings to sell off more pieces and rebuild.
NHL Rumors: 20 teams have inquired about Blake Coleman
The Kings now have $9.2 million in projected cap space, a first-round pick this year, two seconds and two thirds to work with.
