After Ole Miss loss to Miami on Thursday night in the College Football Playoff semifinals, one Big 12 player took the moment to mock SEC football. BYU wide receiver Parker Kingston took a moment late on Thursday night to roast the SEC with one of their own slogans.
Kingston is not the only one taking some joy out of the fact that the SEC is going to miss a National Championship Game for a third straight season, despite having the most teams make the Playoff over that span. With Miami beating Ole Miss, the SEC finishes 2-8 against Power 4 teams in bowls and 0-3 in the playoff against other Power 4 teams.
As for the game itself, Carson Beck scrambled for a 3-yard touchdown with 18 seconds left, and Miami will head back home for a shot at its first national title since 2001 after beating Mississippi 31-27. Now 37-5 as a starter, Beck gets one more chance at glory against against top-ranked Indiana or No. 5 Oregon on Jan. 19 in the CFP championship game.
And with Miami’s success in the CFP, the ACC continues to have a very dominant bowl season in the Playoff and in non-playoff bowl games. Here’s how the conferences are stacking up through Thursday night’s Fiesta Bowl.
