Saint Louis is back in the top spot of the Men’s Other Top 25 as the Billikens are 17-1 and have won 11 straight games. They’re one of three teams who are undefeated in Atlantic 10 play. SLU cracked the AP poll at No. 24 this week.
Miami (OH) is immediately behind the Billikens in both the Other Top 25 and the AP poll. The RedHawks are second in the Other Top 25 and No. 25 in the AP poll. They are one of three undefeated teams in the country and the lone mid-major with a zero in the loss column at 19-0.
Travis Steele’s team won one of the most dramatic games of the season on Saturday as it came back to beat Buffalo 105-102 in overtime. Eian Elmer buried the game-tying three at the end of regulation, and then Peter Suder clinched the win with a 3-ball at the end of OT to cap off a season-high 37-point performance.
Utah St., who was No. 1 the last four weeks, dropped to No. 3 following an 84-74 loss at Grand Canyon Saturday. The Aggies are now 15-2.
George Mason, who like Saint Louis, is 17-1 overall and a perfect 5-0 in Atlantic 10 play came in at No. 4. The Patriots have won eight in a row.
San Diego State moved up one spot to round out the top five. The Aztecs are the only undefeated team in Mountain West action at 7-0. They are up to 13-4 on the season.
Saint Mary’s dropped from third to sixth after its 62-54 loss at Santa Clara Saturday. The Gaels sit at 17-3. The Broncos moved up two spots to No. 11.
The Atlantic 10 has four teams in the top 10. Dayton came in seventh, and VCU ranked ninth to join SLU and GMU. New Mexico made it three Mountain West teams in the top 10 as the Lobos were eighth. Belmont finished the top 10 by moving up one spot.
Five new teams joined the ranking this week: Hawaii (T-20), Florida Atlantic (T-22), Grand Canyon (T-22), UC San Diego (24) and Davidson (25).
