UFC star Sean O’Malley has his eyes firmly set on one thing – a rematch against Petr Yan with the UFC bantamweight championship on the line.
Everyone knows that Sean O’Malley is one of the biggest names in mixed martial arts today. In the wake of his win over Song Yadong, he’s now in a position where he could arguably be thrust back into a title fight. Of course, the likes of Umar Nurmagomedov and Merab Dvalishvili will probably have something to say about that, but the UFC White House card needs some star power, and ‘Suga’ is someone who can provide that.
Sean O’Malley showed that he was able to dig deep against Song Yadong and avoid slipping to yet another defeat in the wake of his two losses to Merab Dvalishvili. Alas, going against someone like Yan is a different kind of challenge, and while he did pick up the win in the first fight, Petr has certainly changed his game in a lot of ways since then.
In a recent tweet, Sean O’Malley had a quick remark to make about a possible rematch with Yan, likely at the White House.

“America vs Thailand”
Of course, O’Malley is referring to the fact that Yan has trained extensively in Thailand, although we know he actually hails from Russia.
The bantamweight division as a whole is looking really healthy right now and regardless of who gets the title shot, it feels a lot like things are going to continue to be really fun to watch at 135 pounds. O’Malley, who has recently spoken about some of the anxieties he faces as a mixed martial artist, now knows that he can go to a different place and pick up the win – and he’ll need that if he takes on Yan.
