Ketlen Souza got back into the win column at UFC Vegas 113, grinding out a decision victory over Bruna Brasil.
Souza’s unrelenting pressure proved to be an issue for Brasil, who seemingly had no answer once her back was pressed against the fence. Despite that, Souza offered little in the way of offense, prompting referee Herb Dean to step in and separate them late in the first round.
Dean’s calls for action continued in the second as Souza was content to clinch against the fence. They were separated once again near the halfway point of the stanza, giving Brasil yet another chance to get her own offense going. The one bright spot for Brasil was that she had defended all six of Souza’s takedown attempts through the first two rounds.
Unfortunately, defense doesn’t score points.
Less than a minute left in the round, Brasil took a punch to the eye that seemingly impacted her vision. Instant replay confirmed that it was a legal strike. As a result, the fight continued uninterupted and likely put Souza up 2-0 going into the third and final round.

Brasil’s timidity continued in the third as Souza controlled the Octagon and ground out what would prove to be a dominant victory for the 22-fight veteran.
Official Result: Ketlen Souza def. Bruna Brasil via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).
