Update: Official images of adult pairs have been added below. Our initial coverage remains intact further ahead.

With Nike’s annual Mamba Day landmark now less than a month away, anticipation for this years round of Kobe Bryant shoe releases has been kicked into high gear. The Kobe 8 “What The” from 2013 will enter the Protro canon on April 13th, presented here in grade school sizing via official images.

As can be said about myriad other Kobe Protros, the re-release colorway is basically identical to the original. The multicolor “What The” mashup features the exact same pattern as seen over a decade ago, with the right shoe favoring blue/red and the left skewing toward orange/green. One key change to note; the grade school version features the padded mesh tongue as opposed to the flat one spotted on the original (and 2025 adult version, thankfully).

This is one of two headlining Mamba Day releases poised to touch down on April 13th, joined by the “Dodgers” Kobe 6. Official images of the adult version have yet to surface, but we’ll be sure to update this article once that changes.

Looking a bit further ahead on our Sneaker Release Dates calendar, check out the Kobe Air Force 1 “Lenticular” dropping Holiday 2025.
