Isis Sio, 19, has been placed in a medically induced coma following a first-round knockout defeat on the undercard of Lester Martinez vs Immanuwel Aleem.
The 21-year-old Jocelyn Camarillo, a former three-time national amateur champion, stopped Sio at 78 seconds of the opening round after trapping her against the ropes and unleashing a sustained attack.
Sio was left unconscious for several minutes following the stoppage and was removed from the ring on a stretcher.
Official Statement Issued
ProBox TV confirmed Sio’s condition in a statement provided to World Boxing News.
“On behalf of CEO Garry Jonas and the entire ProBox family, we are praying for a speedy recovery for Isis Sio.
“Ms. Sio is currently in a medically induced coma.
“Our thoughts are with her and her family at this very difficult time.
“Please join us in wishing for a full recovery.”
Camarillo also addressed the situation following the bout.
“All glory to God. I came prepared and gave it my all. I’m grateful for the moment, but my heart is with Isis. I’m keeping her in my prayers and wishing her a full recovery.”
Background on Isis Sio
Sio entered the bout with a 1-3 professional record, having turned over in 2025.
Her sole victory came via a unanimous decision win over Katelyn Radtka in November, while her recent outings had seen her face a series of early setbacks in the ring.
The light flyweight was continuing to build experience at professional level prior to the contest in California.
Incident on Undercard
The bout took place early in the evening as part of the ProBox TV event in California, which was later headlined by Martinez defeated Aleem for the interim WBC super middleweight title.
