Sunday saw a high scoring game in the lone game on the schedule down on the farm. Unfortunately some tough luck with runners on base and an implosion by a reliever ended up costing Gwinnett the game.

The game opened with Chasen Shreve throwing four solid innings against a strong Charlotte lineup, allowing a pair of runs on four hits and no walks while striking out six. Jackson Stephens followed with a scoreless inning, before Dylan Dodd got smacked around to the point of giving up five runs in just two thirds of an inning. Jordan Weems relieved Dodd and went an inning and a third scoreless, before Kolton Ingram allowed the final two runs in his inning of work.
Eddy Alvarez continued his hot start to the season, going two for four with a homer, walk, and two runs batted in. With this game he has started out the season four for his first eight plus four walks, and has a 1.567 OPS. He wasn’t the only Striper to have a notable game at the dish, as fellow outfielders Jake Marisnick and Cody Milligan each had two-hit games that included doubles along with Luke Waddell. The Stripers actually had more hits (12-10) and more walks (5-4) than Charlotte, but were undone by their inability to come through in the clutch in this one as they went just 2-14 with runners in scoring position and left nine guys on base. Every Striper except catcher Chandler Seagle had at least one hit, and Seagle managed to reach base via a walk in the loss.
