Oregon football got a big break this offseason when star quarterback Dante Moore announced that he would be returning for his senior season to improve his NFL Draft stock. With so many Power Four teams looking for new signal-callers in the transfer portal, the Ducks are locked and loaded with one of the best in the entire country.
But, in classic Dan Lanning fashion, that didn’t stop him from diving into the transfer portal at that position. Oregon brought in Dylan Raiola, who started for two seasons at Nebraska, to be Moore’s backup and presumably take over as the starter when Moore is gone in 2027.
Raiola’s 2026 season in Lincoln was cut short due to a broken leg, but he revealed on Tuesday that he has been cleared for football activities and is good to go, via Erik Skopil of 247 Sports.
“Two weeks ago I got fully cleared. I’m very grateful for all the trainers and people and everyone who went into that recovery. I feel great,” Raiola said. “Obviously, there’s still things I need to work through to get back to being comfortable. Whether that’s the balance of my feet. It’s just so weird, you’ve got to learn how to walk again, let alone take a drop and throw a football. There’s so many baby steps that go into it, but I’m thankful to be 100 percent fully cleared moving forward.”
Raoila is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Moore, who transferred to Oregon before the 2024 season and served as the backup to Dillon Gabriel. Gabriel had a very successful season before going to the NFL and Moore learned and waited his turn. Those mental reps clearly paid off in 2025, as Moore blew up and became a projected first-round pick after a great season.
Now that Raiola is healthy, he can start getting back to his best and learning the new system in Eugene. With both Moore and Raiola in the QB room, Dan Lanning has nothing to worry about at the most important position on the field.
