The UConn Huskies almost won a third national championship in the Dan Hurley era this past season. They ultimately fell short in the National Championship game, losing to the Michigan Wolverines.
It was one heck of a run, and there were some very memorable moments and performances throughout the campaign for UConn.
One of the most notable was star guard Solo Ball, averaging 12.8 points, three rebounds and 1.5 assists per game while nursing a wrist injury for much of the season.
Perhaps the wrist was bugging him during March Madness, because his production dipped a bit. He went from the totals above to averaging 9.2 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists in six NCAA Tournament games.
Either way, UConn has announced that Ball will undergo surgery and focus on recovering from the wrist injury next season. He’ll miss the entirety of the 2026-27 season and take a medical redshirt year.
