Scott lauds Iraola´s impact at Bournemouth after Premier League nomination

Alex Scott credited Andoni Iraola for his recent form after the midfielder, along with his boss, were nominated for the Premier League Manager and Player of the month awards.

Scott has not missed a minute for Bournemouth over the last month, while he also scored the winning goal in their 2-1 triumph away to Premier League leaders Arsenal.

And the Cherries’ fine run of form has moved them up to seventh in the top flight and just one point and one place behind Brighton in the race to secure European football.

However, 22-year-old Scott was quick to praise Iraola for aiding his development during their time together at the club, which will come to an end following the conclusion of the campaign, after the Spaniard announced he would be leaving this summer.

“He’s a great head coach, a great person. He has helped me a lot and improved me a lot, so obviously I am going to be grateful for him,” Scott said.

“Of course, he is leaving at the end of the season, so we want to finish on a high after all the hard work and commitment he has put into this football club and us as players.

“It should be a great four games [left of the season] and hopefully we can win as many as possible for him to send him out on a high.”

Iraola’s side will be hoping to continue that good form this weekend against a Crystal Palace side who won the first leg of their Conference League semi-final on Thursday.

Ismaila Sarr, Daichi Kamada and Jorgen Strand Larsen were all on target in a 3-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk at Synerise Arena ahead of next week’s second leg.

But in the Premier League, the Eagles find themselves 13th in the table and seven points behind sixth place following last week’s 3-1 defeat away to top-five hopefuls Liverpool.

And even with the Conference League final within touching distance, Palace midfielder Kamada remained focused on the task at hand in the Premier League.

“This game will be a very exciting game for the fans, and the atmosphere will be amazing,” Kamada said after the Eagles’ win over Shakhtar.

“But the next game is against Bournemouth, so we have to focus on the Bournemouth game, and then we have to think about next week and the Conference League.

“I think it’s a massive win for us, and also I could score and make an assist today, so that’s good for me – and the game was really good for us.”

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Bournemouth – Junior Kroupi

Only five different players have scored more goals as a teenager in a single Premier League campaign than Kroupi’s 11 for Bournemouth so far this term.

Bournemouth have also given more minutes to teenagers than any other side in the top flight this season (2,602). Kroupi is responsible for more than half of those for the Cherries, with his 1,385 minutes the third-most among teens this term.

Crystal Palace – Daniel Munoz

Only Josko Gvardiol (11) has more Premier League goals among defenders in the Premier League than Munoz since his debut in the competition in February 2024 (eight).

The Colombian also leads all defenders with 19 goal involvements (11 assists) during that time, and you would back him to have his say against the Cherries.

MATCH PREDICTION: BOURNEMOUTH WIN

Bournemouth are unbeaten in their last five Premier League games against Palace (W2 D3), having lost five in a row against the Eagles before this.

The Cherries are unbeaten in their last 14 league games, the longest run in the division. Only two teams have had 14+ game unbeaten runs within a single campaign and finished outside the top six – Wimbledon in 1996-97 (14 games, 8th) and Chelsea in 2015-16 (15 games, 10th).

However, no side has a worst points differential between points won and lost with goals scored in the 90th minute or later in the Premier League this season than Bournemouth (-3, five won and eight lost). Palace, meanwhile, have the joint-best differential (+6, seven won and one lost).

Palace, though, have kept a clean sheet in five of their eight top-flight away games against Bournemouth – at no other side have they recorded more shutouts in the competition (also five at Leicester City).

But Palace have lost seven of their last 13 Premier League away games (W5 D1), as many defeats on the road as in their first 28 matches under Glasner (W11 D10).

OPTA WIN PROBABILITY

Bournemouth – 53.6%

Draw – 23.8%

Crystal Palace – 22.6%
