Tennessee basketball trending for top transfer Juke Harris following Michigan insider update originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

The Tennessee Volunteers basketball team is in full pursuit of their top transfer portal target, Juke Harris. Head coach Rick Barnes and his staff have done everything in their power to convince Harris to commit to the Volunteers. While nothing has been made official, On3’s Chris Low has made it very clear that a commitment to Tennessee is a likely outcome.

“You never say never, but all my intel says that this week that Juke Harris will pull the trigger and come to Tennessee,” said Low. “I know his mom is a big fan of the program, and a big fan of Rick Barnes. Tennessee was right there in it when he went out of high school.”

Michigan Wolverines has been the thorn in Tennessee’s side throughout this entire process. Harris even took a visit there when he first entered the portal.

“They (Michigan) are very much in the hunt for Juke Harris,” 247Sports’ Travis Branham said. “That one is evolving pretty quickly. As of this morning, it’s now sounding like his decision will likely come down to Michigan and Tennessee. Both have had him on visits at this point, and that’s going to be a fight to the finish.”

It now appears Michigan is no longer a concern for Tennessee, as reports indicate Harris has informed them they are out of the running.

“The list is seemingly narrowing for coveted Wake Forest transfer Juke Harris. Considered the top player in the transfer portal this cycle by On3, he’s had a number of suitors attempting to reel him in while he also considers forgoing his eligibility and staying in the NBA draft. However, recently, the buzz has all been around Tennessee basketball landing his talents. With Vol fans anxiously awaiting an announcement, it seems one of his other options is off the table, too. On Friday, Maize & Blue Review (On3) publisher Josh Henschke reported that the Wolverines have ‘been informed they’re out of the running’ to land Harris,” Rocky Top Insider’s Ryan Sylvia wrote.

This means Tennessee is now in firm control of landing Harris, as long as the NBA does not become a factor. Adding one of the top players in the portal would cap off an impressive transfer cycle for Barnes and his staff.

Tennessee has to like the latest Harris update. An official commitment to Rocky Top does not seem to be far away.
