Aston Villa podcasters chat with Prince William after watching their side win the 2026 Europa League Final against Freiburg.
As the game played out, TNT Sports’ camera kept going back to Prince William celebrating wildly, then was seen singing Sweet Caroline after the final whistle.
The Claret & Blue Podcast wrote via YouTube: “After the celebrations began to slow down a little in the Tupras Stadium, Dan Rolinson and Mat Kendrick heard their names called by the future King of England for a post-Europa League chat.”
The YouTube video has been racking up the views since being published, getting 14,000 views in less than 5 hours, with fans loving the interaction between Wills and the supporters…

How you feel?
Prince William: It’s unbelievable. It’s surreal this whole thing. I’m tempted to go down there, but I thought let’s let everyone else have their moment down there. This is about the players, the team, the fans.
Who is this team? What has happened to Aston Villa?
Prince William: I like it. I was expecting a rollercoaster, but actually… I was more nervous about the Nottingham Forest second leg. I felt comfortable towards and actually we sat here and Elmohamady was in front of me. He knew already before Youri had even hit the ball that was going in the net. He was already up celebrating. How do you know? He’s watched him training. They practiced that free kick several times and you just knew Youri was going to miss it.
You were born 82, weren’t you?
Prince William: Yeah. 82.

Prince William: Yeah, go for it.

Prince William: And Ezri’s letter. I thought it was brilliant. It got me proper emotional. They don’t to give too much away, they like to be held back, they go for it.
These are not only wonderful footballers, they seem like wonderful human beings.
Prince William: What I love to know also is that the Freiburg fans sat there the whole way through, celebrating and speaking to us and we gave them a guard of honour and clapped my whole way through. That’s what I love about the club as well, it’s proper good football, it’s like sportsmanship, it matters and it’s always been a thing about the club. We do it right, we do it properly.
