Miami (FL) football stretched its College Football Recruiting heater to Sunday. Fresh off flipping five-star edge rusher Jaiden Bryant from LSU, the Hurricanes landed a new four-star defender. This time Miami beats out Georgia and Florida for safety Andre Hyppolite.
The National Championship Game runner-up secures a local prospect here too, as Hyppolite stars for nearby North Miami Beach High. Head coach Mario Cristobal and his coaching staff continue to put their restamp on landing prized backyard talent while scouring the rest of the nation for blue chip prospects.
Miami lands a “ball-hawking free safety with a blend of ball skills and physicality” per Rivals recruiting director Charles Power. The national recruiting analyst also praised Hyppolite’s ball skills on the offensive side of the football.
Hyppolite is fresh off grabbing five interceptions and piling 63 tackles. But adds offensive expertise too; catching 32 passes for 405 yards and scoring four touchdowns. Cristobal and Miami’s primary recruiter for the safety Will Harris brings in a cerebral defender too who knows how wide receivers think.
Miami is stockpiling on talent in response to its title game loss to Indiana. Four-star defensive lineman Demarco Jenkins joined the Hurricanes’ class to close out May. Linebacker AJ Randle added a fellow four-star representative by committing on May 21.
The Canes delivered its biggest coup on May 10, though. Five-star safety Donte Wright spurned Georgia for Miami to shake up the recruiting world.
So Miami shoots up to No. 2 now in the recruiting rankings per On3/Rivals, which is also where 247Sports plugs them. But Cristobal and his coaching staff are rising as a serious threat to claim No. 1 by cranking up their recruiting heater.
