Amid the penultimate regular-season weekend for the majority of New England’s Division 1 programs, Holy Cross enjoyed a triumphant start to postseason play.
The Crusaders advanced back to the Patriot League Championship Series with an impressive two-game sweep of the top seed. In the Ivy League, Yale put together a three-win weekend to clinch its second straight pennant and the right to host next weekend’s four-team tournament as the No. 1 seed.
Besides Yale, four other local clubs pulled off sweeps in their crucial regular-season series, with UConn and Northeastern both reaching the 30-win plateau to punch tickets to their respective postseasons. UMass Lowell finished a road sweep in dramatic fashion on Sunday, while Merrimack slugged to a second straight perfect weekend.
This edition of NEBJ’s Monday roundup covers all of that and the rest of the action from around the region.
