Paddy Pimblett Admits One Win Isn’t Enough To Earn Justin Gaethje Rematch

Paddy Pimblett would love to run it back with the newly minted UFC lightweight champion, Justin Gaethje. However, the Brit believes he’s not done enough to earn a rematch.

Pimblett and Gaethje locked horns earlier this year at UFC 324 for the interim 155-pound strap when undisputed champ Ilia Topuria went on a hiatus, and come fight night, the 37-year-old American dogwalked the Liverpudlian, dropped him several times, and dismantled him for 25 minutes to cruise to a dominant, unanimous-decision win.

Earlier this month at the White House, “The Highlight” dethroned Pimblett’s arch rival, Topuria, and conquered the undisputed UFC lightweight throne.

Paddy Pimblett will look to return to winning ways next month at UFC 329 when he faces Benoit Saint Denis. However, “The Baddy” believes even if he gets past BSD, a one-win streak won’t be enough to earn a title shot. In a recent YouTube video, he said:

“I’d love to beat BSD and get a rematch with Justin, but I can’t really demand that after a one-fight win streak.”

Check out Paddy Pimblett’s comments below:

🫡Paddy Pimblett humbly admits he’s not in a position to demand a rematch with Justin Gaethje.

“I don’t think it’s a number one contender fight. I think Arman’s probably still the number one contender. I’d love to beat BSD and get a rematch with Justin, but I can’t really demand… pic.twitter.com/jHsPbarGDQ

Paddy Pimblett breaks down his upcoming bout with Benoit Saint Denis

Paddy Pimblett believes Benoit Saint Denis will be afraid to take him down at UFC 329, as the Frenchman knows how good “The Baddy” can be on the ground.

“I think he might be a little bit afraid to take me down, because he knows I’ll submit him on the ground. Once I hit you with a few punches, a few kicks, knees, elbows, you’re gonna revert back to default settings. Default settings for him are shooting takedowns.”

Pimblett’s lone UFC defeat came at the hands of Justin Gaethje. Before that setback, following his victory over Michael Chandler, he boldly called out Charles Oliveira, insisting he wanted to show the world that “Do Bronxs” is not the greatest submission artist in the UFC, and he is better than the Brazilian.

Against Benoit Saint Denis, Pimblett will once again look to prove how well-rounded he is. If he gets past the “God of War,” fans could finally see a clash with the BMF champ, a fight that could also serve as a No. 1 contender bout for the lightweight title.

In the meantime, top contender Arman Tsarukyan could be next in line for a shot at Justin Gaethje.

If Pimblett stops Saint Denis at UFC 329 and Ilia Topuria returns to the octagon before the year’s end, the UFC could capitalize on their long-running feud by booking a massive grudge fight between “El Matador” and “The Baddy.
