Gonzaga Bulldogs baseball has acquired its first player through the NCAA transfer portal. Meet incoming junior third baseman Josiah Rodriguez from Division II powerhouse Point Loma in San Diego, California, and Northern California’s Junipero Serra, the high school baseball program that produced the home run king, Barry Bonds.
Rodriguez had a .411 batting average (ranked sixth-highest in program history), .555 slugging percentage, and .484 on-base percentage in 63 starts during his sophomore season. That included seven home runs, 13 doubles, 37 walks, and 52 runs batted in. The Sea Wolves made it all the way to the College World Series due to his contributions at the plate, and he was listed on the NCBWA NCAA Division II All-West Region Second Team.
Gonzaga has lost two key contributors from last season’s roster to the portal in redshirt junior third baseman Mikey Bell (Georgia Bulldogs commit) and freshman right-handed pitcher Landon Hood (LSU Tigers commit). Bell was awarded the West Coast Conference Player of the Year in back-to-back campaigns, while Hood was named the 2026 West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year.
The portal officially closes on June 30.
