Crystal Palace set Ismaila Sarr price tag after World Cup heroics with Everton keen

Ismaïla Sarr’s stock has risen sharply after a standout year for Crystal Palace and a decisive World Cup campaign with Senegal.

For Palace, Sarr delivered one of his most productive Premier League seasons to date, bagging 20 goals in all competitions while consistently stretching opposition defences with his pace and directness.

The Senegalese played a crucial role in helping Palace win their first ever European trophy last season as well, scoring nine Conference League goals and finishing 25/26 as both the competition’s top scorer and Player of the Year.

However, it is on the international stage where Sarr has truly elevated his current reputation.

At the World Cup, he produced a series of influential performances for Senegal, registering 3 goals and 2 assists as his side progressed into the Round of 32.

Sarr bagged a brace against Norway in the group stage before helping himself to a goal and an assist in Senegal’s 5-0 demolition of Iraq.

Football FanCast’s Verdict

Credibility

This story comes from Graeme Bailey, who is a well-known but divisive transfer journalist. He is a full-time football correspondent with over 20 years’ experience and strong industry contacts, having worked across Sky Sports, 90min, GRV Media and TEAMtalk. His reliability is seen by some as mixed but influential, with Bailey often going into a lot of intriguing detail in his pieces which isn’t seen elsewhere.

Finances

Any sale of Ismaïla Sarr would likely require a fee much higher than the £15m they paid for him, with the African’s value significantly rising through goals, assists and World Cup form. Palace are also under no pressure to sell, with three years remaining on his deal.

Insight

Sarr started at Metz, before moving to Rennes where he broke through with stellar form in Ligue 1 and Europe. A big-money move to Watford then followed, where he became a standout in the Championship and Premier League, earning international plaudits with Senegal and building a reputation for explosive pace.

Impact

Sarr’s potential sale would leave Pierre Sage short of pace and direct attacking threat in his first Palace season. After becoming a key outlet in transition, replacing his goals and assists would be extremely difficult. It would not only force tactical reshaping, but also place more pressure on recruitment immediately.

Although Senegal’s run eventually ended in the knockout rounds in heartbreaking fashion against Belgium, Sarr bagged a worldie after firing a rocket past Thibaut Courtois.

That combination of international form and Premier League consistency has inevitably drawn attention from elsewhere.

Reports have already suggested Everton are among the clubs monitoring Sarr’s situation, while other Premier League sides are believed to be keeping close tabs on developments.

Ismaila Sarr for Crystal Palace

However, Palace are in no mood to sanction a departure without a significant fee.

According to TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey, the club’s stance has hardened considerably, with Palace now demanding over three times the £15 million fee they originally paid to sign Sarr.

That places his valuation at north of £45 million, a figure that reflects both his current importance to the squad and the fact he still has three years left on his deal.

Ismaila Sarr scores for Crystal Palace

From a football point of view, it’s easy to see why Palace are very reluctant to part company with the forward.

Sarr gives Palace a constant threat on the counter-attack, and his speed in transition remains one of the hardest weapons to defend against in the Premier League.

Even when games are tight, he is one of the few players capable of changing the rhythm instantly.

But there is still a question mark over consistency.

While his impact can be huge in moments, he can drift in and out of matches, which is why some clubs remain hesitant about paying top-end fees.

For Palace, though, the decision is simple: keep a proven match-winner or demand full value.

At £45 million, it will take a serious bid to test their resolve. Otherwise, Sarr remains exactly where he is — a key part of Pierre Sage’s attacking plan at Selhurst Park.
