Max Holloway, who earned the UFC Knockout of the Year in 2024 by sending Justin Gaethje to the shadow realm with just one second left on the clock in their BMF title fight, is now aiming to recreate that iconic moment or perhaps even something better against Conor McGregor on July 11.

Holloway will run it back with “The Notorious” this weekend in the main event of UFC 329. The former BMF and ex-145-pound titleholder is moving up to 170 pounds for this bout.

Earlier today, during an interview with David Adesanya, “Blessed” opined that at UFC 329, once the octagon door shuts, he will seek yet another iconic knockout victory, and if he can recreate something similar to UFC 300 by flatlining McGregor out cold, face down, it would be “insane.” He said:

“I am chasing a moment that beats UFC 300, to be honest. That UFC 300 moment I had, that’s what I am chasing. To do or even to recreate, just get close to that moment, do it against Conor McGregor, with how many eyes
This is a huge a*s event
Oh my God, it is going to be insane. I am chasing that high. I really want another moment like that, and if I can put [Conor McGregor] face down, that will be great.”

Max Holloway’s rules for the point down

Before the UFC 329 fight, “Blessed” has once more made the rules of his iconic 10-second point down clear. As per the Hawaiian, the fighter who is up on the scorecards should be the one inviting his opponent to the center, and once both fighters are game to trade with reckless abandon in the final 10 seconds, no one should take a step back, shoot, or clinch.

While Max Holloway loves to stand and trade in the pocket during the final 10 seconds of every fight, if his UFC 329 fight reaches that point, Conor McGregor may be reluctant to accept the invitation.

After 5 years away from competition, the Irishman could be dealing with questions surrounding his cardio, making a last-second firefight a terrible idea.

Dustin Poirier doesn’t think Conor McGregor will stand-and-bang with Max Holloway if Max points down in the last 10 seconds

Thus, experts and past opponents have suggested that “The Notorious” should seek an early finish before he starts gassing out.

Holloway, on the other hand, in a previous interview, has stated that he won’t go for an early kill and would love to drag the Irishman into deep waters and then “drown” him with an “old Hawaii-style beating.”

Check out Max Holloway’s comments below:

“Mystic Max has arrived. He’s taking my ‘it is what it is’ – I’m taking Mystic Max. We drown him. We’ll give him an old Hawaii-style beating and drown him. We take him to deep waters.”
