Floyd Mayweather has revealed he was quietly making “mailbox money” from Al Haymon’s music tours, adding another layer to the reported financial fallout surrounding the pair.
Mayweather refused to discuss directly whether he is suing Premier Boxing Champions or whether Haymon owes him money during his lengthy interview with Cam’ron.
Instead, the five-weight world champion called Haymon a “father figure” before revealing their business relationship once extended beyond boxing.
“What people don’t know that, a lot of the music tours that Al Haymon was doing, I was a part of the tours.
“I was behind the scenes. I was getting mailbox money.”
Mayweather said he could name several tours but claimed his lack of public billing would lead people to question his involvement.
“Just cause you didn’t see my name on a Jumbotron or you didn’t see my name throughout the arena or nowhere on none of the billboards throughout the tour, people going to say, ‘Oh no, Floyd didn’t have nothing to do with that.’”
Mayweather’s Mailbox Money
Mayweather’s admission suggests his financial ties to Haymon once stretched considerably further than boxing.
The exact nature of Mayweather’s involvement in the music tours remains unclear, but his description of receiving “mailbox money” points to an income stream that was largely hidden from public view.
That matters now because Mayweather’s finances and business relationships are under greater scrutiny than at any point since his retirement.
Rumors of a rift with Haymon intensified following the departure of former Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe, although Mayweather stopped short of explaining the current state of either relationship during the interview.
Haymon Relationship
50 Cent later posted an alleged recording he claimed featured Haymon and Ellerbe discussing Mayweather.
World Boxing News was unable to independently verify the authenticity of the audio, which 50 Cent deleted less than 24 hours later.
According to the transcript shared with the recording, one speaker said: “Me and you stay close together and we’re going to put his a** in the ground. You’ll see.”
Neither Haymon nor Ellerbe has publicly confirmed the recording was genuine.
Mayweather declined the opportunity to address the reported financial dispute directly during his interview with Cam’ron.
His admission that he received “mailbox money” from Haymon’s music tours offers another glimpse into just how closely their business interests were once tied.
