Real Madrid were held to a 2-2 draw by Fiorentina in their opening pre-season friendly at the Wörthersee Stadion in Klagenfurt. José Mourinho’s side raced into an early lead before being pegged back after the break.
The Spanish side started sharply despite missing several international stars and took control inside the first half hour. Their intensity created immediate problems for Fabio Grosso’s visitors on a warm afternoon in Austria.
Real Madrid opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Endrick finished clinically after being found by Álvaro Carreras. The teenager timed his run well and applied a composed finish inside the box.
Madrid doubled their advantage in the 24th minute through Alexis Ciria, who was teed up by Eduardo Camavinga. Ciria kept his composure to slot home and cap a bright opening spell for the hosts.
Fiorentina responded before the interval and reduced the deficit in the 41st minute through Roberto Piccoli. Álex Jiménez provided the assist with a well-weighted delivery that Piccoli converted from close range.
The Italian side found an equaliser early in the second half when Moise Kean headed in from Nicolò Fagioli’s cross. Kean rose highest in the 58th minute and directed his header beyond the goalkeeper to make it 2-2.
This was Real Madrid’s first pre-season outing of the 2026-27 campaign under Mourinho at their Austrian training base. For Fiorentina it marked a fourth summer friendly as Grosso continued to build sharpness ahead of the new season.
Several of Real Madrid’s regular starters were absent due to extended breaks following the World Cup. Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior and Jude Bellingham were among those missing, offering chances for younger prospects to impress.
With no points at stake, both coaches used the second half to rotate and test different combinations against strong opposition. The draw offered useful minutes for both squads before their preparations intensify in the coming weeks.
