Prior to the start of each season, the Draysbay community takes part in an excercise in which the top prospects in the Tampa Bay Rays system are ranked by popular vote.
This season, the Draysbay community ranked the top 25 prospects in the Rays system with several others receiving votes but just falling shy of making the cut.
With the 2025 season officially over, we can now look back and see how each prospect performed and whether their stock has improved, remained the same, or fallen over past several months.
An important note:This is not a re-ranking of the Rays top prospects but a review of the prospects in the order that they were ranked entering the season. Also, I will not be featuring players no longer within the Rays organization.
Honorable Mention: Tanner Murray
What Danny wrote entering the season:
In 2022, Murray got a handful of games in the AFL after a strong showing at Class-A (151 wRC+) and an average showing in A+ (100 wRC+), but it’s not clear that the Rays knew what to do with the 2020 4th rounder out of UC Davis. To start 2023 he bounced between A+ and Triple-A, perhaps to meet a roster need, but was injured just 9 games into his season on a play at second base. He returned mid-July and the Rays sent him to Double-A, where he worked a utility-style infield rotation but mostly settled in at second base. He’s got sure hands and good plate discipline, but his swing was under construction in 2023.
Early in the 2025 minor league season, Murray was exciting scouts with some dazzling Statcast numbers where Baseball America boosted his raw power grade from well below average (30) to above average (60). However, that didn’t translate to above average results on the field as Murray struggled throughout the season.
In a peculiar month of June, Murray actually dropped his strikeout rate, increase his walks, but still had his worst month of the season with a 55 wRC+. He regained his power stroke in July and August and had a decent second half of the year but all in all, it was a dissapointing year for the now 26-year old infielder.

Murray is currently near the top of the Rays depth chart should anything happen with one of the Rays infielders as he is capable of playing 2B, ss, and 3B. However, the Rays will have a decision to make regarding Murray this offseason as he is eligible for the Rule 5 draft so he will have to be added to the 40-man roster in November.
So is Murray’s stock improving, the same, or falling?
