In yet another close vote, Jackson Chourio has slotted in at No. 6 on our 2025 MVBrewers list. Chourio took the six spot with nine votes from the BCB community, slightly outpacing pitcher Quinn Priester, who finished second with seven votes. Abner Uribe garnered the only other vote.
After a third-place finish in the NL Rookie of the Year race in 2024 (and garnering a few down-ballot MVP votes), Chourio took a slight step back in 2025, though his numbers still closely matched his 2024 stats.
Chourio finished the season hitting .270/.308/.463 (112 OPS+/111 wRC+) as he once again turned in a 20-20 season, slugging 21 homers and swiping 21 bases. He added 35 doubles, 78 RBIs, and 88 runs scored across 131 games, while striking out 121 times and walking 30 times.
After strictly playing the corner outfield spots in 2024, Chourio found himself playing all over the outfield, primarily in center with 89 games (87 starts) there.
Chourio’s Baseball Savant page shows plenty of room for improvement, as the flashes of potential he’s shown in his age 20 & 21 seasons makes it clear there could be plenty more in store. He ranked right around league average in most batting metrics, but his bat speed (73.9 mph) ranks in the 76th percentile. His barrel rate also jumped considerably in 2025, going from 7.8% (32/410 batted balls) in 2024 to 9.7% (42/435) in 2025.
While his arm rates out below average, his speed allowed him to get three outs above average, good for the 82nd percentile, and he added 93rd percentile sprint speed.
Perhaps most importantly to our MVBrewers series, Chourio provided arguably more value than any other player in Milwaukee’s postseason run: even as he dealt with a leg injury, Chourio showed he’s a cornerstone of Milwaukee’s future.
While the season didn’t end as many would have hoped, Chourio once again showed he’s built for the big moments. After slugging some huge homers in the 2024 NL Wild Card Series against the Mets, he slashed .303/.314/.576 with a pair of homers, three doubles, and eight RBIs across nine games, including in a four-game sweep at the hands of the Dodgers during which the Brewers’ offense went silent.
In the regular season, Chourio’s best game by WPA came against the Cardinals in late April, when he went 4-for-5 with a homer, a double, and three RBIs, though the Brewers fell short and lost 6-5 in that one. Beyond that, though, each of Chourio’s next seven best games by WPA were in victories, including a huge go-ahead homer against the AL Champion Blue Jays in Toronto in late August.
