The Milwaukee Brewers officially announced their 2026 coaching staff on Monday morning, headlined with four returning coaches switching roles and four new coaches joining the staff, including a former slugging first baseman at hitting coach.
The four moves include promotions for Jim Henderson (previously assistant pitching coach, now pitching coordinator), Jason Lane (previously third base coach, now offense and strategy coordinator), and Eric Thiesen (previously hitting coach, now lead hitting coach). Matt Erickson, who is entering his third season with Milwaukee’s staff, will switch from infield coach to third base coach, though he’ll continue to lead infield instruction.
Additions to the staff include new first base coach Spencer Allen, hitting coach Guillermo Martinez, hitting coach Daniel Vogelbach, and assistant pitching coach Juan Sandoval.
Allen, 48, was most recently director of player development for the Brewers, serving in that role the last two seasons. He’s served in three different roles with the organization over the last four years, and he was previously the head coach for Northwestern University baseball from 2016-2021.
Martinez, 41, spent 2025 as the hitting coach for the Cubs’ Double-A affiliate, and he spent the seven seasons before that in the Blue Jays organization in various roles, including as Toronto’s hitting coach from 2019-2024.
The most familiar name among the group, Vogelbach, 33, played for the Brewers in 2020 and 2021, including a memorable walk-off grand slam against the Cardinals in September 2021. He last played for the Blue Jays in 2024 before transitioning into a coaching career in 2025, when he served as a special assistant for hitting with the Pirates.
Sandoval, who turns 45 next week, has also been in Milwaukee’s organization for the past four seasons, including as assistant coordinator of minor league pitching for the last two seasons. He’s a former pitcher who played in the minor leagues and internationally from 2002 to 2019, including a stint in Milwaukee’s system from 2008 to 2009.
Returning staff for 2026 include field coordinator Néstor Corredor (fourth season), pitching coach Chris Hook (eighth season), and bullpen coach Charlie Greene (third season), as well as manager Pat Murphy, who is also entering his third season.
Al LeBoeuf, formerly lead hitting coach, and Julio Borbón, formerly first base coach, will transition to expanded roles in the organization and assist in efforts across baseball operations with a focus on player development and scouting. Daniel de Mondesert will transition from assistant coach to game preparation specialist.
Lastly, Christian Correa will return for his third season as a bullpen catcher, while Ty Duvall will join him for his first season in that role.
