The Braves sat around a rain delay for upwards of two hours on Friday night and then embarrassed themselves in an absolute beatdown at the hands of the division rival Phillies, 13-0.
Facing a Phillies lineup that scored 1 run over 27 innings against the Astros, Bryce Elder got torched for the third start in a row. The term ‘non-competitive’ comes to mind. He walked in a run in the first inning, gave up a solo homer to Trea Turner and a two-run homer to Nick Castellanos in the second, and gave up a three-run shot to “Otto Kemp” in the third to make it 8-0 in a blink of an eye. Austin Riley bounced a throw into the dugout to make it 9-0. Not long after, Kyle Schwarber hit one to the moon to make it 11-0. The Phillies would ultimately score 13 runs.
The Braves, for the second night in a row, were shut out in a bullpen game. They’ve scored 3 runs over their last 28 innings. I’m out of words to describe how bad this is. What a train wreck.
