The Cincinnati Reds couldn’t manage to score a run last night in the series opener in Houston. Tonight they will try and get the offense going against the Astros and even up the series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10pm ET.

Brady Singer
After back-to-back strong starts to end April, Brady Singer didn’t have his best outing the last time out when he was in Atlanta as he allowed four runs on seven hits in 6.0 innings.
This season he’s held both lefties and righties to a low average and low on-base percentages. Right-handed hitters have not hit for any power against him this season. Left-handed hitters, though, have shown a good amount of power against him so far in 2025.

Lance McCullers Jr.
Tonight will be just the second start in the big leagues for Lance McCullers Jr. since 2022. After a series of injuries cost him both the 2023 and 2024 seasons, he returned to the mound last week. Due to his time off the mound, we’re not going to look at his past splits – it’s simply too far in the past to think it’s important information.

News and Notes
Jake Fraley to the injured list
The Reds made it official this afternoon, sending Jake Fraley to the 10-day injured list with left calf tenderness. He’s been replaced on the roster by Connor Joe.
Wade Miley starting tonight in Dayton
The down time for Wade Miley after exiting his last rehab start after feeling something tighten up in his groin area was not very long. He’s on the mound tonight in Dayton to start for the Dragons.
Success at futility?
Reds have been under .500 at the 40-game mark in each of the last 12 seasons.
