As the Braves spiraled downward in late May and early June, it looked certain that 2025 would be Brian Snitker’s last year. This was the silver lining to the atrocious, unfortunate season that the Atlanta’s fans were enduring. But it doesn’t appear that it will happen.
If this is Brian Snitker’s last dance, where’s the celebration of his long tenure for the Braves? When it was Bobby Cox’s last season, gifts and sometimes a short pre-game ceremony would occur at his last visit to each stadium. Hey look, I’m not putting Snitker in the same class as Cox, I’m only comparing the potential last years of each and the attention that it’s getting.
I think Brian Snitker starts the 2026 season as manager of the Braves. And I’ll also tell you that I don’t think Tim Hyers is going anywhere either. I don’t think he’s solely responsible for the new approach of the Braves’ hitters. The organization wanted more control over the strategy and approach of the team, and Hyers is carrying out those wishes.
There are things for Braves’ fans to cling to as the year closes. They have grab the top pick and pool in the MLB Draft. Chris Sale looks healthy, and outside of Grant Holmes the pitching looks set to recover. The Braves will have a chance to rethink their approach and have it more suited for their personnel. There is a lot to watch and be encouraged about, but getting a new manager may not be something to have out hearts set upon.
