Milwaukee Brewers NLCS Roster Rundown

The Brewers’ NLCS roster is out! Let’s check it out, with position players first.

Catchers (2): William Contreras, Danny Jansen

Infielders (6): Jake Bauers, Caleb Durbin, Andruw Monasterio, Joey Ortiz, Brice Turang, Andrew Vaughn

Outfielders (6): Jackson Chourio, Isaac Collins, Sal Frelick, Brandon Lockridge, Blake Perkins, Christian Yelich

Milwaukee’s position player group is the same as it was in the NLDS, despite some speculation that they could do something unexpected like include Rhys Hoskins at the expense of Isaac Collins. Not much to say here: this was the likely outcome.

Pitchers (12): Grant Anderson, Aaron Ashby, Robert Gasser, Jared Koenig, Trevor Megill, Jacob Misiorowski, Tobias Myers, Chad Patrick, Freddy Peralta, Quinn Priester, Jose Quintana, Abner Uribe

There is one change to this group of pitchers, and the longer series with fewer off days is certainly the reason. The Brewers have opted for more length, as Tobias Myers has been included at the expense of Nick Mears. It’s perhaps surprising that Mears was left off and not someone like Grant Anderson, but Anderson is difficult on right-handed hitters, and Milwaukee may see him as sort of a specific-scenario specialist in this series.

Los Angeles’s roster is below. There are a couple of small differences from the roster they used in the previous round; catcher Dalton Rushing (the third catcher in the first two rounds) was left off in favor of pitcher Ben Casparius, which could mean there is more confidence that Will Smith is healthy. (He did play in all four games of the NLDS, but didn’t hit well.)
