The Dodgers dropped the series finale and thus the series against the Mets, which wasn’t necessarily a surprise given the pitching matchup, but ended up being frustrating because it was almost entirely due to their defense and inability to get even one big hit in a 3-1 loss.

Against Kodai Senga, the Dodgers had chances but couldn’t capitalize. They got their run on the first batter of the game when Shohei Ohtani hit his 18th dinger to make it 1-0.

They then blew runners on second and third with nobody out later that inning due to a double play, a single, double, steal, and walk in the 4th due to a double play, and bases loaded with two outs in the 5th.
After he issued a one-out walk in the 6th, the Mets pen entered for him and … you guessed it, got a double play.

For all the whining about Landon Knack, he at least ate innings again, and arguably went blow-for-blow with Senga. An error on Max Muncy with two outs in the 1st led to this Pete Alonso homer to make it 2-1 Mets.

Another error in the 3rd on an “infield single” led to an “earned run” on a groundout to make it 3-1 Mets, but that was all he gave up. There was a bunch of hard contact early, but otherwise he looked solid: 6 IP, 4 H, 3 R (1 ER), 0 BB, 5 K, 91 Pitches.
Well, I dunno what people expect from Knack anymore, but next time he gives up four runs or whatever, should probably focus on stuff other than the ~#12 starter if everybody is healthy.

Jack Dreyer and Lou Trivino continued to make their Trust Tree case with scoreless frames, but it didn’t matter much cause the Mets pen closed with three scoreless.

The Dodgers will now head to Cleveland for a three-game series against the Guardians, starting at 12:10 PM HT/3:10 PM PT/6:10 PM ET. They need a series win and to start well with Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound against Gavin Williams.
