News and Notes
Matt McLain unavailable today
Gordon Wittenmyer of the Cincinnati Enquirer is reporting that Matt McLain is not available tonight as he caught the (likely) flu bug that’s been going around the Reds clubhouse. He is expected to play on Tuesday.
MLB.com Statistical Predictions
Manny Randhawa of MLB.com published the statistical leader guesses for the 2026 season based on the opinions of 57 MLB.com staff members. The Reds only had one player predicted to lead the league in a category. That player was Elly De La Cruz and the category was stolen bases.
Eight minor league players released
The Reds have released eight minor league players in the last 24 hours. Among that group was outfielder Malvin Valdez, who was the top international signing by the team back in January of 2021. He always showed good defense and speed, but he just never developed the ability to hit.
