This week’s minor league roundup will only feature the numbers accumulated prior to the start of play on Monday.

This was the 21st week of minor league play.

According to FanGraphs (which factors in age and proximity to the big leagues), newcomer Jadher Areinamo remains the top hitter in the Rays system; the Rays acquired the 21-year old infielder from Milwaukee for Danny Jansen in late July.

Meanwhile, Ty Johnson continues to be the team’s top minor league pitcher. The 23-year old came to the Rays as part of the return for Isaac Paredes and is having a fantastic season in Double-A.

Theo Gillen broke his finger sliding into second base on a stolen base attempt. He has been placed on the Injured ListMarc Topkin wrote about several of the Rays top prospects and the struggles the system has endured this year. In the article, Topkin notes how Brayden Taylor worked with the coaching staff to retool his swing during a hiatus from games in July. Since making his return on July 19th, Taylor is hitting .200/.307/.333 with 2 HR over 88 PA, registering a 94 wRC+; Taylor had a 64 wRC+ prior to his three week break from game action.Mason Auer made his season debut, offiically converting to a pitcher. He recorded an inning of work, facing five hitters, allowing a walk and a basehit.Kiley McDaniel updated his top ten Rays prospects with newcomer Jadher Areinamo being ranked 10th.Brailer Guerrero injury update: per Eric Longenhagen of FanGraphs, Guerrero is dealing with patella tendinitisAdrian Santana has been placed on the Injured ListBaseball America’s weekly statcast standouts features two Rays in Triple-A: Brian Van Belle and Yoniel Curet
